  • Abdul Samji

    Chairman

    Mr. Samji was appointed the Chairman of the DTB Group in May 2010 after having been appointed to the Board in 1997. He is a Certified Public Accountant and Management Consultant by profession, and a former Managing Partner of PKF Kenya, a firm of Certified Public Accountants.

    He is a B.Com (Hons) graduate, Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya. Mr. Samji is a past District Governor of Rotary International, District 9200, and is a Trustee for several institutions involved in charitable and service activities. Mr. Samji is also the Chairman of the PDM Group of Companies.

  • Nasim Devji

    Group CEO & Managing Director

    Mrs. Devji joined the DTB Group in 1996 following which she was appointed Group Chief Executive Officer of Diamond Trust Banks in East Africa in 2001. She is a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, an Associate of the Institute of Taxation (United Kingdom) and a Fellow of the Kenya Institute of Bankers.

    Mrs. Devji is a director of DTB Tanzania, DTB Uganda, DTB Burundi, Jubilee Insurance Burundi and Diamond Trust Insurance Agency Limited. She is also a member of the Deposit Protection Fund Board, Kenya. Mrs. Devji was recognized as the “Leading African Woman in Business of the Year” at the 2010 Africa Investor Investment and Business Leader Awards.

    In 2011, she received the “CEO of the Year” award from the Capital Markets Authority during the Capital Markets Awards and the “Chief Executive of the Year in Banking” award by Think Business during the Banking Awards 2011. Mrs. Devji again received the “Chief Executive of the Year in Banking” award during the Banking Awards 2013.

    Mr. Thobani was appointed the Deputy Chairman of Diamond Trust Bank Uganda Limited in 2000. He is an established business man and Managing Director of Fourways Group of Companies whose companies deal in baking and confectionary, coffee processing for export, fish processing for export, pesticides formulation, farming, and property development.

  • Mr. Mahmood Hudda

    Non- Executive Director

    Mr. Hudda was appointed a Non-executive director of Diamond Trust Bank Uganda Limited in June 2000. An established businessman, Mr. Hudda is Managing Director of Mairye Estates, a flower producing and export company. He is also involved in the property development, entertainment and meat processing industries in Uganda.

    Mr. Hudda has held various positions in the AKDN network, having been Vice Chairman of Aga Khan Foundation, Uganda and a Director of Aga Khan Education Services, Uganda in the past. Mr. Hudda holds a Masters Degree in Community Health (University of Toronto, Canada) and a Bachelors Degree in Biopsychology (University of British Columbia, Canada) and did his internship with Aga Khan Health Services, Kenya.

  • Mr. Capt Gad Gasatura

    Non- Executive Director

    Mr. Gasatura was appointed a Non-executive director of Diamond Trust Bank Uganda Limited in February 2001. He has a MSc. in Transport Management. He has been a director of Barclays Bank Uganda Limited and Civil Aviation Authority. He is currently a director at the Uganda Institute of Corporate Governance.

    Mr. Gasatura is a former member of Parliament of RUGXenyi, Ntungamo District, and a pilot/engineer with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF/US), a Uganda government pilot as Assistant Superintendent of Police.

  • Mr. Varghese Thambi

    Chief Executive Officer and Country Manager

    A senior banker with 34 years of experience in the Indian banking industry, Mr. Thambi, was appointed CEO of Diamond Trust Bank Uganda Limited (DTBU) on July 11, 2007. Prior to joining DTBU, he was Senior Vice President and Head of Retail Banking of a leading private sector bank in India. Prior to this, Mr. Thambi held the positions of Head of Banking Operations and Head of Inspection and Audit of the bank. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics, a Master’s degree in cyber laws (Nalsar University, Hyderabad, India) and post- graduate diploma Oracle Financials (from Oracle Corporation, U.S.A.)

  • Mr. Maina Kariuki

    Executive Director

    A senior banker with 14 year of experience in the banking industry, Mr. Kariuki Maina 43, was appointed as an Executive Director of Diamond Trust Uganda Limited in June, 2013. Prior to joining DTBU on 1st August 2002, he was employed with Diamond Trust Bank Kenya Limited for two and half years in the Finance Department. Mr. Kariuki has worked as auditor in PricewaterhouseCoopers (formerly Coopers & Lybrand) for 6 years, since 1994. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Art (majoring in Economics) and is a qualified Certified Public Accounts of Kenya (ICPAK).
